Event Engagement shows you how each of your events is performing — how many people saw it, how many followed through to view it, and which channel drove that traffic. This article explains where to find it and how to read the numbers.
Where to find it
Step 1: From your dashboard, look for the Event engagement widget. It shows your top events for a quick preset range, split into Upcoming and Past tabs.
Step 2: Click View all on the widget to open the full Reports: Event Engagement page, with the complete breakdown, date filters, and chart.
You can also get there directly from the main navigation: go to Reports → Event Engagement, or visit my.revisual.io/reports/event-engagement any time.
Impressions, Views, and Ratio
Impressions count every time someone clicks or opens an event's card inside an embedded calendar widget on your website.
Views count every time someone lands directly on an event's own page — from a direct link, a QR code scan, or an email click. Views represent people arriving with more specific intent than a browsing impression.
Ratio is views ÷ impressions, shown as a percentage. It answers: of the people who saw this event in a widget, how many went further? A ratio between 50–100% is healthy. Below 50% suggests the event is being seen but not generating much follow-through.
A ratio over 100% is not an error. It simply means views outpaced impressions — common when an event gets meaningful direct link, email, or QR traffic independent of the widget. When an event has zero impressions, ratio shows as “—”, since there's nothing to divide by.
Traffic sources
Every impression or view is attributed to one of four sources, shown by color in the chart and totals:
• Widget — clicked from an embedded calendar widget (counted as an impression)
• Direct — visited via a direct link (counted as a view)
• QR — visited by scanning a QR code (counted as a view)
• Email — visited via a link in an email (counted as a view)
Setting your date range
Step 1: On the full report page, choose Today, 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, or Custom from the top right.
The date range filters by when the engagement happened, not by when the event itself is scheduled. This means an upcoming event can show engagement if people are already viewing it, and a long-past event can show nothing if no one has looked at it recently within your selected range. If you see zero data, try a wider range before assuming there's no engagement at all.
Hourly detail: for same-day ranges (Today, 24 hours), Pro plan accounts can see an hour-by-hour breakdown in the chart — useful for pinpointing exactly when a spike happened, like correlating a burst of views with a newsletter send time. Accounts without Pro see a single collapsed total for the day instead.
Reading the chart
By default, the chart shows the combined total across all your events in the selected range, color-coded by source.
Step 1: Click any event in the table below the chart to select it. Its own numbers overlay on top of the aggregate — a dimmed background for everyone, and a highlighted line for the event you selected.
Step 2: If the selected event's numbers are too small to see clearly against the total, click Focus view to switch to two separate charts — one for the aggregate, one for just that event on its own scale.
Bars for the current, still-in-progress day or hour are marked as partial, so they aren't mistaken for a completed period with unusually low numbers.
Reading the events table
The table lists every event with its impressions, views, ratio, status, and a trend sparkline. Click any column header — Event, Starts, Ends, Impressions, Views, or Ratio — to sort. Sorting and pagination apply to your full filtered results, not just the visible page.
The Status pill (Ended, Ongoing, or Upcoming) is based on today's date against the event's own schedule — it's independent of whatever date range you've selected for the report.
FAQ
Why is my ratio over 100%?
This is expected, not an error. It means an event received more direct/QR/email views than widget impressions — a sign of traffic that isn't coming through your embedded calendar.
Why does an upcoming event already show engagement?
People can view or share an event page before it happens. Engagement and event timing are tracked separately, so pre-event interest shows up as soon as it happens.
I selected "last 7 days" but don't see an event I know had views recently — why?
The date range filters by when the engagement occurred, not by the event's scheduled dates. Try widening the range, or switch to Custom to check a specific window.
Why can't I see hourly detail?
Hour-by-hour resolution is available for same-day ranges (Today, 24 hours) on the Pro plan. Other accounts see a single total for the day instead.
