Revisual.io: Widget views quota — alerts, grace period and what happens at your limit

How your monthly widget views are tracked, the alerts you'll receive as usage grows, and what happens if you go over your plan's limit.

Written by Piotr Poźniak

Every Revisual plan includes a monthly allowance of widget views. Your usage resets automatically on the 1st of each month. This article explains what counts as a widget view, where to check your usage, the alerts you'll get as you approach your limit, and exactly what happens — and when — if you go over.

What counts as a widget view?

Each time one of your widgets loads, that's one view. Think of it like a page view: if a visitor opens a page with your widget on it, that's one view, and if they refresh the page, that's another.

This includes:

  • Embedded widgets — widgets placed on your own website.

  • Hosted widgets — widgets opened through your shareable Revisual link.

  • Single events — individual event pages you share.

Your usage resets to zero on the 1st of every month.

The short version

  • We'll alert you by email and in your dashboard at 75%, 95% and 100% of your monthly views.

  • If you reach your limit, nothing happens straight away. Your widgets stay online for about 7 days (a 48-hour buffer plus a 5-day grace period).

  • If you haven't upgraded by then, your widgets pause until you upgrade or your usage resets on the 1st — whichever comes first.

  • Paused widgets simply don't display. Your website visitors never see an error message.

  • If you hit your limit in the last 5 days of the month, no action is taken at all.

Where to check your usage

Dashboard — The Quota Summary card on your dashboard shows how many widget views you've used this month against your plan's limit.

Plan usage report — For more detail, go to Reports → Plan usage. Here you can see your usage over the past 12 months, a projection of where you're likely to finish this month, and which of your widgets are getting the most views. That last one is useful if your usage is higher than you expected — it can help you spot a widget that's embedded somewhere unexpected or getting more traffic than usual.

Alerts as your usage grows

We'll let you know well before you reach your limit, both by email and with a banner at the top of your dashboard.

75%

A heads-up that your audience is growing, with a comparison of your current plan and the next one up. No action needed.

Blue, informational. You can dismiss it.

95%

A reminder that you're close to your limit and a good moment to consider upgrading.

Amber. Stays visible until your usage resets or you upgrade.

100%

Sent 48 hours after you reach your limit. It tells you the exact date your widgets will pause and includes a one-click upgrade link.

Red. Appears at the same time as the email and shows the date your widgets will pause.

To avoid flooding your inbox, we always leave at least 48 hours between these emails, even if your traffic climbs quickly.

What happens if you reach your limit

Here's the timeline from the moment you reach 100% of your monthly views:

  1. Day 0 — You reach your limit. Your widgets keep working.

  2. Day 2 — "Action needed" email and red dashboard banner. We wait 48 hours first, so a short burst of traffic doesn't trigger unnecessary alarm. Both tell you the exact date your widgets will pause.

  3. Days 2–7 — 5-day grace period. Your widgets keep working while you decide what to do.

  4. Day 7 — Widgets pause. If you haven't upgraded, your widgets stop displaying. We'll send you a final email confirming this and explaining how to restore them. Your usage resets on the 1st of next month.

What your website visitors see

Nothing disruptive. While paused, your widget simply doesn't appear — there's no error message, no Revisual branding and no explanation shown to the public. Any notices about your account are shown only to you, in your Revisual dashboard.

Getting your widgets back online

You have two options:

  • Upgrade your plan — your widgets come back online within minutes of upgrading. Upgrade links in our emails and dashboard banners take you straight to the right plan, with your current usage shown.

  • Wait for your usage to reset — your widgets come back automatically on the 1st of the next month. There's no need to contact us.

Hitting your limit near the end of the month

If you reach your limit in the last 5 days of the month, we won't pause your widgets. The reset on the 1st takes care of it.

Spike forgiveness

Traffic spikes happen — a viral post, a busy event season, a successful campaign. So the first time you go over your limit in any six-month period, we'll automatically keep your widgets online for the rest of that month. You don't need to do anything to use it.

When spike forgiveness is applied, we'll tell you by email and in your dashboard, along with the date it becomes available again. If you go over your limit again before then, the normal timeline above applies.

Frequently asked questions

Will I be upgraded or charged automatically?
No. Your plan only changes if you choose to upgrade.

Do I have to upgrade?
No. If your widgets pause, they'll come back on their own when your usage resets on the 1st of the month.

Why am I using more views than I expected?
Every load counts, including page refreshes and visits to your hosted links and single event pages. Check the widget breakdown in Reports → Plan usage to see which widgets are getting the most views. If something looks off, contact us through the chat and we'll take a look with you.

Do other limits work the same way?
No. Widget views are the only quota that can pause your widgets. Other plan limits, such as domains, team members, integrations and published widgets, work as they do today.
