How to choose which events show on your website (filters)

Show only some calendars, locations or tags in a widget, or feature specific events, using filters on the Setup tab.

Written by Piotr Poźniak

Filters decide which events from your calendar appear in a widget. You set them on the widget's Setup tab, in Events Filtering.

The note at the top of Events Filtering sums up what the widget currently shows.

Quick options

  • Show events with images only: hides events without a cover image.

  • Merge recurring events: shows a repeating event once instead of on every date. (Calendars only.) See How to show a recurring event only once.

Add a filter

Step 1: Click + Add filter and choose what to filter by:

  • Calendar: which of your connected calendars the event is in

  • Location: the event's location

  • Tag: a tag in the event's description, such as #Evening

  • Category: the event's Outlook category (Outlook and Microsoft 365 calendars only)

Step 2: Choose is to show only matching events, or is not to leave them out. Then pick the calendar, location or tag.

Step 3: Click Done, then Save.

To remove a filter, click the × next to it.

Combine filters

Filters are arranged in groups:

  • Click + next to a filter to add another filter to the same group.

  • Click + Add filter to start a new group.

Inside a group, and between groups, choose how filters combine:

  • or: events that match any of them. Use it to show several calendars together.

  • and: events that match all of them. Use it to narrow things down.

Groups work like brackets. A group with two calendars joined by or, and a second group with a location, joined by and, shows "(Classes or Workshops) and Main Hall".

Examples

You want to show

Set up

Two of your calendars

One group: Calendar is Classes or Calendar is Workshops

Everything except one calendar

One group: Calendar is not Internal

Evening classes only

One group: Calendar is Classes and Tag is #Evening

Classes and workshops, at one venue only

Group 1: Calendar is Classes or Calendar is Workshops. And group 2: Location is Main Hall

Watch out: "Calendar is Classes and Calendar is Workshops" shows nothing, because an event is only ever in one calendar. Use or to show both.

Featured events

Featured events get a badge, and can also be shown as highlights. On the Setup tab, open Featured Events, turn on Show featured events, and add filters to choose which events to feature. The filters work exactly the same as above.

An event has to be shown by Events Filtering before it can be featured. To show only featured events, use the same filters in both sections.
