How to feature events on your website (badges and highlights)

Pick events to feature, mark them with a Featured badge, and show them in a highlights strip above your calendar.

Written by Piotr Poźniak

Featured events stand out from the rest of your calendar. First you choose which events are featured. Then you choose how they stand out: a Featured badge, a highlights strip above your calendar, or both.

Step 1: Choose which events to feature

On the widget's Setup tab, open Featured Events and turn on Show featured events. Click + Add filter to choose the events, for example Tag is #AllLevels. The note at the top sums up which events are featured. Click Save.

The filters work exactly like Events Filtering. See How to choose which events show on your website (filters).

An event has to be shown by Events Filtering before it can be featured. To show only featured events, use the same filters in both sections.

Step 2: Show a Featured badge

On the Design tab, open Badges. Under Featured Events:

  • Show badge puts the badge on the event in your calendar.

  • Show badge in event details puts it in the event's pop-up or expanded details.

  • Featured event background and Featured event label set the badge's colours.

On the Cards templates, Badges location sets where badges sit on the card. It applies to recurring event badges too.

Using the Detailed list template?

Featured events get a coloured line and a Featured label automatically. To change their colours, go to Design › Detailed list › Featured events and set Indicator color and Badge color. In Badges, you can still turn on Show badge in event details.

Step 3: Show featured events above your calendar

Highlights show your featured events in their own strip above the calendar. On the Setup tab, in Featured Events, turn on Show featured events highlights. Then set:

  • Featured events limit: how many featured events the strip shows.

  • Featured events highlight template: how the strip looks, for example Tiles or Cards (Slider).

Click Save.

Tip: pick a template that looks different from your main calendar, so the highlights stand out. For example, Tiles above Cards (Grid):

Good to know:

  • Highlights don't show when Infinite scroll is on.

  • Only Featured events limit decides how many events the strip shows. The calendar's Number of events setting doesn't apply to it.

Style the highlights

On the Design tab, switch from Main design to Featured highlights. Settings there change only the highlights strip. Under Featured highlights › Callout, change the Label above the strip (FEATURED EVENTS by default) and its colour. The other sections depend on the template you picked, and work the same as for your main calendar.
