Outlook sync stopped? How to reconnect your account

Seeing "Session expired" or "Paused" on your Outlook connection? Sign in to Microsoft again or restore permissions, and get your events syncing again.

Written by Piotr Poźniak

When Revisual can no longer read your Outlook or Microsoft 365 calendar, syncing stops. Changes in your calendar won't reach your widgets until you fix the connection. Your widgets and settings are kept.

Your connection on the Integrations page shows one of two messages. If the next sync fails too, Revisual also emails you. Find your message below.

Session expired

The connection says Session expired. Revisual can no longer reach this account.

Microsoft has ended Revisual's access. This can happen after a password change, when Revisual's access was removed in your Microsoft account, or when your organisation signed you out of apps.

To fix it:

  1. Go to Integrations.

  2. On the connection, click Re-authenticate with Microsoft.

  3. Sign in with the same account shown on the connection, and click Accept on Microsoft's screen.

Work or school account? If Microsoft now says Need admin approval, your organisation has withdrawn its approval. See "Need admin approval" when connecting Outlook? How to fix it.

Paused: access to a required scope was withdrawn

The connection says Paused — access to a required scope was withdrawn. Revisual can still sign in, but cannot read data. A notice at the bottom of the left-hand menu also says Outlook Calendar™ integration access revoked.

A permission Revisual needs, such as reading your calendars, was removed in Microsoft. You or your IT admin may have removed it.

To fix it:

  1. On the connection, click Update permissions. Or click Review permissions in the notice in the left-hand menu.

  2. Microsoft's sign-in opens. Sign in with the same account and click Accept to grant the missing permissions.

After reconnecting

  • Check that Auto-sync is on. Turn it back on if it's off.

  • Click Resync to pull in the changes made while syncing was stopped.
