How to add your events to a Mailchimp email

Show your upcoming events in a Mailchimp newsletter: build the event list in Revisual, copy the code and paste it into a Mailchimp Code block.

Written by Piotr Poźniak

Revisual can turn your calendar into an event list for your Mailchimp newsletter, with images, dates, locations and an Add To Calendar button for each event.

Before you start: publish your calendar. See How to publish your calendar and add it to your website.

Step 1: Build the event list in Revisual

Open your calendar's Install tab, click Install, choose Mailchimp and click Next. The builder starts with the events you chose on the Setup and Design tabs.

On the right, choose:

  • Template: the layout, for example Side by side.

  • Method to show events: Static (one-time) or Evergreen (recurring). See below.

  • Limit events by number of days: keep your calendar's settings, or show only the next few days of events.

Static or evergreen?

Both start with your calendar's settings, and you can change them in the builder.

  • Static (one-time): the email always shows the events you see in the preview. Use it for a one-off campaign or a set programme, such as an Easter programme.

  • Evergreen (recurring): the event list updates each time the email is sent. Use it for a regular newsletter, such as "What's on this week".

With Evergreen, choose where the list starts in Show events starting from: Today, a day of the week such as next Saturday, or the first day of next month. For example, a newsletter sent every Thursday that starts from next Saturday always shows the coming weekend's events.

Step 2: Copy the code

Click Export › Copy Mailchimp code. For another email tool, choose Copy HTML.

Step 3: Paste it into Mailchimp

Step 3a: Open your email in Mailchimp's design editor.

Step 3b: Drag a Code block to where you want the events.

Step 3c: Paste the code into the code editor.

Step 3d: Open Preview. The events only show in the preview and in the sent email, not in the editor.

Click Finish in Revisual when you're done.
